Glacier Hike

The night after the clinic day in Kaksur several of us went on a hike to try to get up near a glacier that was near our campsite. We had to cross the river again and we then tucked up a little side valley. On the walk up you could see the glacier hanging off the rock face but the further we went the less you could see of it. It was a spectacular hike. Much of the trail that we walked on was actually an irrigation ditch that had been dug from a pseudo-lake much higher up. It was an incredible piece of work.

The view in this picture shows the view back down the valley we had climbed up and the mountains on the opposite side of the river. Our campsite is just out of sight to the left of this photo. We didn't make it as far as we wanted because we had to turn around in time to make if back for dinner, and so that the sun didn't set on us. The picture at the top is Josh, Jenny, Nate, and me at the "top". The rock wall to the right of my head was blocking the view of the glacier. If we could have had about 30 more minutes I think we could have rounded that corner and had a big glacier hanging over our head.

Hey man, great updates. When you get a chance I'd love to know how you were able to get these posts online? It doesn't look like the Internet would be too readily available anywhere near where these pictures were taken. Also, some of the pictures can be clicked on for larger versions, others cannot. If it's possible I'd love to see more pictures that can be clicked for a large version, they look awesome.

I went to the dentist on Friday and got three cavities filled, bummer, sure wish I had gotten whatever that guy you treated got, the stuff they injected into my jaw took forever to work.

Those lines outside of your medicine tent are incredible, especially considering that was the slow time of the day, do you feel like you're at any risk of people trying to push in and steal medicine? I would assume because of the scarcity that it would be very valuable as a currency around there if it were stolen.

Have fun out there and keep up the good work... I know the deeds of your team must be VERY appreciated!
